Situation-

Microsoft WPG selected EPM Live to manage their projects through an online deployment using a SaaS model. Some of the challenges the Microsoft WPH team faced included:

1) Provide a view to executives of all projects in flight including tasks, completion level, owner, participants, reviewers, approvers, budget status vs committed

2) Provide the ability for projects owner to enter rapidly and simply the relevant information relative to their projects in a consistent way that will permit them to be more efficient and provide better visibility and project status, key milestones but as well risks and issues.

3) Provide an integrated platform/repository to store relevant documentation around projects with a structure aligned to our organization

4) Be able to manage dependencies cross projects across the organization

5) Be able to manage escalations (Risks, Issues, Approvals) as well as activity reports with the ideal ability to consolidate activity reports automatically bottom up in the organization

Solution

Microsoft WPG deployed EPM Live’s Enterprise Project Management Application solution to allow executives to actually go in and enter milestone dates for their projects in Work Planner as well as Project Managers to go in and manage full project schedules using Microsoft Project. The solution was built to allow the separation of Top Projects- executive driven and all other projects if needed, but also to roll them up to the Vice President level for an overall status of the WPG portfolio.
